Check out the new SETI program you can install on your PC. It’s terribly good at finding aliens.

Now we just need one for prime numbers, intelligent US Presidents, and good English sportsmen. (Lennox Lewis isn’t English, by some definitions).

Heh, the real one, Satan, is here, though Outis’ is pretty “cute.”

There is a prime number project (GIMPS) which seems pretty interesting. You feed it a prime exponent for the Mersenne formula 2^p - 1, and the program tries to factor that number. According to their site, they’ve not only found some pretty impressive primes, but also some pretty impressive factors, e.g., 2^2944999 - 1 is divisible by 314584703073057080643101377. That just boggles me. :)

(Sorry for getting carried away; we were running our own prime number scripts once upon a time)

awww, Outis that’s so mean! lol.

The Seti screensaver is fun, and i really think that it is a good cause. I have it running on my computer all the time!

As Jodie Foster said…

If we were alone, it would be quite a waste of space, don’t you think?

I think I used to have Seti on my old computer, if I’m assuming correctly in that it’s the black and green screensaver that finds aliens? ‘Cause that’s what I had before.. Never found anything though..

ps- *large mob of pro-stay on topic people with pitch forks and torches run up and attack Satan* (Does that sound strange or what? :-p)

Re: Seti.

Have you downloaded the Distant Suns add-on? Lets you see the quadrant & nearest star tracked by your unit, among other things.
