The other day yeoz showed me a map Aaaugh! did of Metafilter users locations around the world. I got the link from Aaaugh! and created one for GNE pioneers. Please go add yourself, so we can see just how much of the world Ludicorp has dominated… ;)

While it’s not exactly the same as the MeFi map, it should be a lot easier to maintain, and has the added benefit of not being limited to the US.

Nice work Pixel! I’ve just signed up to be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed and numbered.

*After* sharing this and encouraging everyone to post their location I found out something awful. The free version of that map only allows for 100 posts. For 500 posts in a 3 month period I will have to upgrade and pay $19. For 1000 posts in a 3 month period it will be around $40.

I talked to another player and it comes down to 3 possibilities:

1. Pool players’ money to cover this
2. Make one ourselves with all our players’ coding skills.
3. Get the developers to do it somehow, by begging, cajoling or pleading.

or the unmentioned 4th option - I pay for it with money I don’t really have right now.

So everyone, let me know what you think. GNE’ers are nothing without their outspoken opinions. ;)

How many pioneers are there anyway? I think it will be quite a while before you hit 99.
But asking the developers to do a large scale map (or sponsor such here at paperlane.net) is a great idea.
