So I had the idea that individuals might be brought together in marriages or partnerships or harems or what have you, such that they might share social vibes, properties (co-habitation being a possible fix for the housing problem), new interactions, and so forth. More importantly, it would just make things more interesting. I’m sure this is a subset of a larger new social model for GNE, but it’s a nicely concrete example of something we could have.

I love it! We could have “friend,” “acquaintance,” “enemy,” and ……”concubine.”

Would these actually have to be supported by the game engine? (And if so, why?) I can definitely imagine all sorts of new collective-living arrangements cropping up. I tend to think they don’t need to be built into the code, though…

A reason one might have to Write Code would be to implement stuff like inventory sharing, privileges for using the same house, and stuff like that.

I believe they will have provisions for families to form in the ‘big’ game. Stewart has indicated in chat that adoption is a possibility also being considered.
